Why I Created MyChalls

A personal journey from broken promises to consistent achievement.

I've written goals for myself for years. The usual stuff like "I want to earn X by the time I am Y" or maybe "I want to get down to X kg by the time I am Y years old."

I would then break the goal down into a strategy that I would use to achieve my goal. Then I would break the strategy down into tacticsβ€”the stuff I would need to do every day to eventually achieve my goal.

You've probably done the same. Maybe for you it was New Year's Resolutions or promises you made to yourself on your birthday. Especially on those big scary birthdays that end in a 0...

You know what comes next.

For the first few days, I would keep my promise to myself. I would do what I said I would.

But then other stuff happens. I was too busy or I forgot one day.

Standard stuff. I read all the books on self-improvement and habit forming. Excellent work but...

There had to be a better way.

So I created MyChalls (short for My Challenges, but I imagine you guessed that already).

Am I perfect now? No. But I am a lot better than I was at keeping the promises I made to myself.

Personally, I find the daily reminder, the encouragement, and the nice-looking graphs that show me how I'm doing really help.
